CLOCK DESCRIPTION

This is an antique Waterbury tambour-style mantel clock (or sometimes called a "humpback" mantel clock). This clock is fancier than most antique humpback clocks we've seen. It has fancy wooden applique`s on the front of the clock, below the dial. The dial appears to be porcelain. It has a brass bezel with glass that is hinged, that you can open to move the hands or wind the clock.

This clock will count the hour, on the hour, and strike once on the half hour. It has a nice, deep tone.

This clock has an 8-day mechanism (requiring full winding of the mainsprings every week). The clock's rate (fast or slow adjustment) can be adjusted with the small end of the key, through the face of the clock (near the "12"). A double-sided winding key is included.

This clock measures 12"H x 19-3/4"W x 5-1/4"D

CONDITION

This clock is in perfect order--ready for your mantle! It's movement has been completely overhauled in our clock shop. We provide a Two-Year Guarantee (click the link to view the terms) on this clock!

We are not sure of the exact year that this clock was manufactured. We know that the Waterbury Clock Company manufactured clocks between 1857 through 1944. Based on the style of the movement and the porcelain dial, we believe that this clock was probably made in the early 1900s (probably between 1915-1930). The clock has a manufacturer's label on the bottom of the clock. It appears to be an original Waterbury label, with the word "RUTLAND" printed in the largest font.
